My brother use to work in catering and he would always say he was off to a pre-divorce party, which 50% of the time he was right. Why should couples even bother to tie the knot? Or if traffic is always an issue, plan ahead, start out earlier, but Be On Time. How can someone reciprocate caring feelings for you if you are a habitual liar?
My philosophy on this matter has become like the State of Missouri whose state motto is "The show me state." Don't tell me you are going to do something, show me but authentically doing it. Actions speak louder than words in my book. I am tired of the rhetoric and lip service. Sometimes you feel alone in your quest to find someone you can authentically trust. Take our politicians for example, look at all the false promises they carry and hopes they instill. How do we fix this growing problem?
I think we should have fines and penalties associated with these lies. A marriage is a covenant in the middle of two willing parties; if one of the two does not fulfill their compulsion they should automatically be fined. You shouldn't be required to go to court which wastes considerable taxpayer dollars to be charged this fine; it should be an self-acting payment/withdrawal from your marriage safety deposit account that you established at the time of obtaining your marriage license. Maybe a marriage insurance course should come into existence for this purpose. This fine would be in expanding to any pending alimony or child reserve to be ordered. If we didn't make divorce so convenient; marriages may last longer. And to think so many people are concerned about gays getting married; they should look at the primary marriage and see how well that's not working, a bunch of hypocrites.
A similar fine should be assessed to politicians, corporate officers and anyone who makes a promise to an additional one that isn't fulfilled. One may argue about what's the damage, well, there should be a price tag associated with promised revenue, promised profits, disappointment, heartache, lost time, and an performance causing a reaction.
